Tuesday Poem: After the shower

I am a map

a network
of blue-green
avenues

revealed
like invisible ink
by heat

tracing lines
to destinations
yet unknown

landmarks
that push
rise/subside

the small
imprint
of a foot

I'm no
good
at reading

maps

Ah I love people as maps. (I have a landscape poem coming out in Blackmail Press soon... will send your way when it's here.)

I wonder if it needed to be longer to arrive at that ending... I imagined this taking a turn toward another -- toward a lover, a brother or sister? Dunno, just a thought... the ending came abruptly for me, if that makes sense. But I like the simplicity of it, very much indeed. :)
